This filter was difficult from day one - poor design. It installed fine, but each filter change was a real pain. First you have to rip the filter housing off the base. Always difficult, although I've cleaned everything thoroughly and applied sanitary silicone to the threads and o-ring with every new filter. It was also a challenge to fully assemble/seal the filter housing with no leaks. It was finally time to replace it again today and the filter housing was completely stuck to the base. I tried everything to unscrew it, but ended up cutting the PVC pipe fittings on both sides of the filter base (inlet and outlet) immediately (yes, I tried a lot, and the filter housing just couldn't come off). Again I used sanitary silicone on the threads and tightened just enough to stop the leaks and yet it stuck quickly. Luckily I installed check valves and a bypass so we still have water, but I'll be looking for something better as a replacement. I gave two stars instead of one because we worked in this unit for a number of years but what a pain.
