This is for my basement kitchen. We need battery power because there is no electric cable. It's easy to install. It offers a mount but I just used the included sticky pad which works pretty well. I tested it once as recommended. Just hold the button for 3 seconds and you will hear short beeps. It's easy to check because we mounted it on a wall that can be reached without a ladder. It has a built-in 3V lithium battery with a lifespan of 10 years. There is also a low battery indicator. We burned some cardboard to keep the kitchen smoky. The alarm went off immediately. It's pretty delicate.
