Baking Christmas cookies is always more fun than fun for kids. They like to use a rolling pin, but flat sugar cookies are hard and rough, while thick ones take forever to bake. So I usually spend all my time "fixing" their cookies so they aren't too thin/thick so they cook more evenly. My recipe says bake 7-22 minutes because it all depends on how thick/thin the batter is and I swear we throw away half the cookies because no one wants to eat them. This rolling pin took away all the pain and made cookies fun again. The kids loved it because I didn't tease them about the thickness of the dough and they didn't roll it out multiple times. I think this cut our dough rolling time in half and gives me time to bake accurately. Clean up was easy because I can scrape off any sticky dough and throw it in the dishwasher. I'm actually considering trying grandma's cherry pie, which was always too complicated for me because the crust has to be perfect. The only thing I would like is that the sizes are indicated on the rings. I want to put that on my recipe card for next year; I will most likely box and label for later use. The problem isn't big enough to deduct stars. I highly recommend bringing back the fun and speed of cookie baking with your kids with this kitchen gadget.
