I really wanted to like this cover. I'd be happy if the installation doesn't turn into a nightmare. To be fair, if I were to fit this into an aluminum console a few millimeters thick, it would be easy. The main drawback of the design is that there isn't enough margin around the device if you build it into something thick. I was trying to fit this into a 3/4 inch plywood console on my Lund fishing boat. In order for the block to go through the thickness of the wood I had to make the hole bigger, when I did it left a very noticeable gap at the top, if I lifted the block the shield would get stuck on opening and closing. Lower it and it worked fine, but there was an issue with the gap. If they made the top fairing 1/2 inch higher it would be easy. Anyway I used a piece of white plastic to make another pad to hide the gap. Now it opens and closes perfectly, looks great. It holds stereo really well, but what should be a home setup lasted most of the day.
