Perfect for my use!

Insert [with two screws] 1999 Silverado 1500 base to cover "expensive" parts [$800]. I drilled two holes just above the fold down [Pioneer] stereo deck and screwed it to the dash. Very high-quality workmanship, strong, strong opening loop, thick plastic. This is my second unit. I broke the cover of the first block when I accidentally hit it pretty hard. Would like to buy a second machine. Good price. Thanks seller.

Difficult to install correctly

The gap required in the lid/lid hole is very small. Part of the opening was visible unless a perfect straight line was drawn across the top of the opening. Part of my problem is that the stroke is thicker at the top, which prevents the lid from opening. For a short while I just installed it the wrong way around. Update: I removed some of the dash material behind the top opening and it's now installed correctly so it opens.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Packaging wrinkled

Great boot update!

I have a 20 year old boat in near new condition but the audio system is old and not working. I have a bluetooth stereo streaming system but it also needed an upgraded case and splash guard for installation. This did the job perfectly. I had to sand the gap in the dash a bit to get it to fit, but with a little persistence it got stuck. The spring-loaded sliding door slides smoothly to the open position at the push of a button. Wife even nodded in feng shui! Rating one for the fisherman!

  • Free for educational purposes

This lid is poorly designed and requires twice the cutout as usual.

All you need to trim for this lid is half an inch more at the bottom and another half inch at the top. The problem with this cover is that the retractable portion of the windshield lifts up and gets caught in the overlapping material you have to cover the opening with. Это оставляет вам 1/16 "нахлест на ваш вырез сверху, и окно все еще царапает, когда оно поднимается и убирается. Все, что им нужно было сделать, это дать 3/8" нахлест сверху, и это было бы хорошим покрытием for work. However…

Looked good on first inspection

Looked good on first inspection and looks well installed but design and quality control is very poor. The internal slot was too small to fit in any standard metal cage that the radio goes in, including the one that comes with the BOSS radio. I didn't have to grind a few millimeters in the mount to fit the stock radio. The design of the hinge for the door is cheap and obviously not well thought out. No instructions or cutting templates were provided so getting the right hole for the door to open

Do not buy if you plan to mount anything thicker than 1/8 " card stock

I really wanted to like this cover. I'd be happy if the installation doesn't turn into a nightmare. To be fair, if I were to fit this into an aluminum console a few millimeters thick, it would be easy. The main drawback of the design is that there isn't enough margin around the device if you build it into something thick. I was trying to fit this into a 3/4 inch plywood console on my Lund fishing boat. In order for the block to go through the thickness of the wood I had to make the hole bigger,

Nice and quirky

For practical use I would give this unit 4 or maybe 5 stars. For the design (probably in Asia) I would give it one. Please read on because if you are new to stereo installations you might run into some problems with this design. The good things first: After conversion and installation, the case looks good, feels solid and should work quite well. I'm a little wary of the flip cover, but where it's installed it won't get in the way of knees and elbows. So from the start, make sure you have…
