This is my first candle. I use some sage essential oil and sprinkle some sage on top. I thought the flames were a lot bigger because they are big. When I first tried to light it the wick didn't burn but I took the excess I cut off and stuck it right in the middle of the dying wick and after that it stayed light. I think they are a bit fickle, but I'm glad it's glowing. I'm not sure I would buy them again. Guess I'll have to use a few more before I decide
