Very sensitive to RF interference from nearby electronics.

. Due to related circumstances to a cheap USB OTG adapter, this first lock has been reset multiple times this holiday. This device's case has an annoying bounce ability, and parts of it will shatter if it falls from a height of 4 feet onto a hard floor. At the end of the holiday I couldn't get the device to work at all. When I got home I discovered that one of the leads of one of the diodes had broken out of the circuit board and the glass top of the block. The case of the Christal real-time clock was cracked. It still worked when I plugged it directly into my desktop PC. I fixed the disconnected diode (I think it was used to charge the supercapacitor) and it worked as good as ever. I noticed that there was a broken wire in the USB OTG cable. Others have reported quick fixes with these devices, so I bought a few from the site where this review is located to see if I ended up with a faulty device. The new devices are identical to the original except for the reseller information sticker on the back of the device. The performance is also the same. I did some experiments and found that the performance was poor when connected to a computer via a USB OTG cable (about 3 inches long), but was good when connected via an extension cable. With the extension cable, some satellites reported 43dB SNR, without it 35dB, and sometimes the blocking took a very long time. Unless you have a very quiet computer, get an extension cord so you can place this unit at least 3-4 feet away from other electronic devices. Edit: This device draws 25-30mA when working.

Pros
  • Great for me.
Cons
  • . No instructions.
