It wasn't working at first until I saw this post about this card from someone else regarding GO PRO 5. GoPro Hero5 Black. You get an SD card error. After an hour of fiddling with it I reformatted the card in the camera settings menu and then it still didn't work. For it to work you have to select the option to restore factory settings after reformatting and then it works. It was very confusing but at least it works now.
