Review on ARM & HAMMER Platinum Clumping Cat Litter 37LB with Cloud Control by Obhed Leblanc

What's that, arm & hammer? Stick with Slide or Clump & Seal

First of all, I have to say that I don't quite understand Arm & Hammer's marketing. All of their more expensive refills are basically the same, but every six months it seems like they release a slightly different package name. However, for the first time, a new product let me down badly. Anyway, I was taken aback by the Cloud Control article, as as a person with a severe allergy to clay cat litter, I am always amazed by Slide for its dust-free, asthma-free, and allergy-free cleaning of the crate. So this is NOT new technology. But what really got in my way was what I discovered after buying the large £37 box (it was best value for money at the time and the Slide seems to be only available intermittently here at Revain, so I thought it looked the same - and even in the box it looks identical to the foil - what can I risk?) It clumps very badly and doesn't seem to absorb moisture. It hurts them a lot. I won't say they're soggy, but they're not completely dry like I'm used to from years of using Arm & Hammer putty, and because the clumps don't dry out completely, they don't get hard and crumble and turn into a disgusting mess that is much more difficult to remove. I have one of those cats who likes to urinate in the back two corners of her crate, so even with daily scooping you tend to pick up a few clumps very close together. It was just awful to shovel and leave the edges of the box rough. After the first week I was devastated to be stuck with such a huge box. I am disabled and have a low income. It's heavy lifting a 37 lb box, but it's the most economical, and I won't complain if the bedding works. But stuck with a box this big and feeling the need to order a slide? Pooh. I also have to admit that I'm considering switching to something completely different. All of these Arm & Hammer throws have a trace. I didn't know how much it cost until I moved to a house with hardwood floors. If you don't have hardwood, you may never notice stains since the litter pellets are very small. But I find them not only on the floor, but also on my sheets and all around their favorite sleeping places. Rough. I might try another box of Slides just to see, but I'd like to add that I've noticed my cat rushing out of her box to clean her paws because this Cloud Control doesn't dry or stick as well (she did a litter box next to the crate, but she seems to want to get as far away from the crate as possible, and she farts sideways, so maybe scratching and a big litter box won't help). My cat is not very picky about her litter so I think that says ALL that after using her Cloud Control box she literally runs off to scratch her paws with her scratching posts. I've never seen racing behavior on the Slide or Clump & Seal. And I can't blame her. I'm afraid to clean the box with this garbage. It's disgusting. Arm & Hammer makes a decent fountain pen. This cannot be denied. But if you like this one, do yourself a favor and try Slide or Clump & Seal in a black box. For the same price. No dust either. The same baking soda that controls odor well. But it sticks a lot better and the cat and I are both a lot happier. And watch out for debris tracking - you might not notice or feel it because the pellets are like sand (and again, that's true of the entire A&H line), but it's probably still there. Maybe even more with Cloud Control than with others. I don't know what the hell Arm & Hammer thought about that. Low dust litter is very popular but the irony is that A&H have been making litter with minimal dust for YEARS! It's basically Slide or Clump & Seal, but even worse! So bad it may have thrown that loyal customer away for good, and I'm actively looking for a new litter. It was really, really awful. Nothing new, no improvements. Significantly worse than other A&H litters. Avoid especially if you have a cat that likes to pee in one spot and on the edge of the box. You will be left with a mess.
