The scent is pleasant (lavender) but the cleansing aspect is not as effective. Of course, finding the right spot to hang in the toilet may require some research and observation. The key is figuring out where most of the water is poured, ostensibly to soak the crystals in the plastic, releasing the smell as well as the cleaning agents. I'm still not sure if this hangar is in the best location, but I definitely notice the flow of flavor when the water hits the part. I've never seen scum and my toilet doesn't flash clean. I still have the hard water ring (I hate it and have yet to figure out what actually removes it) and I still have to use a brush and lots of elbow grease to make the toilet shine. Remember that whatever is in the toilet also ends up in the plastic containing the crystals as the water level rises with the flush. Some low water level models may not be able to flush out this dirt. Speaking of human waste and toilet paper in particular. I have yet to find the perfect toilet stand and will keep looking.
