Review on Flexi Vario Soft Stop Belt Leash: Superior Control and Safety for Your Pet by John Floyd

Revainrating 5 out of 5

All retractable leashes must have a soft stop

Failed to load media. A soft stop is an absolute must for any long line. A longer leash allows the dog to gain more momentum when it begins to run, and without a gentle stop, the dog is far more likely to injure itself if it hits the end of the leash (even if you have a strong dog , it may hurt your shoulder). It doesn't matter how well trained your dog is. Even if your dog doesn't pull, he'll never get enough exercise to avoid accidents. For example, my dog doesn't pull, but a cyclist passed us the other day, and as soon as he was behind us, his tire blew out (or some other loud noise), and my dog got scared and tried to run. Without an elastic attachment, a blow when it reaches the end of the leash could easily injure him. I always use a harness instead of a collar for added security and often add a second bungee attachment in the front for even more elasticity. I would recommend it to anyone but if you don't want to go that far this soft stop harness is the minimum security you should get for your dog. To be clear, the soft stop belt is not designed for training. Tool. If you have a draft problem, using this may make it worse. The leash lengthens as the dog pulls so it learns that pulling will get the desired results. The best remedy for bad behavior is simply to train your dog. No amount of leash can fix a lack of training.
