Review on Harken 3269 Lead Ring by Richard Payne

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Hazardous Foreign Objects and Intentionally Misidentification

As Harken knows, the industry standard is to identify this type of ring by the circumferential groove diameter and NOT the center bore. Compare Notch and Tylaska rings in the photo. Note that the much larger Tylaska is identified as 26; while Harken is marked 28. The notched ring is fully marked as 38 x 28. Also note the groove edges around the perimeter. The edges of the notch groove are correctly machined. Harken edges are sharp enough to snap line under load. This can be fatal in forestry. The other two manufacturers give clear load ratings for their rings. Harken offers nothing. It's garbage! I immediately tried to return the ring but found that it could not be returned at all. Notch and Tylaska have a generous return policy. You may also find that Harken reviews have significant negative reviews, but none of the negative reviews are accessed.
