Review on 🐦 Prevue Pet Products F070 Hampton Deluxe Divided Breeder Cage with Stand - Black Hammertone, 1/2-Inch by Katie Peterson

Better quality than expected!

This bird cage exceeded my expectations. Judging by the reviews, I was expecting thinner metal and lower quality, but the metal is thick, heavy, and durable. The box was well packed with bubble wrap, foam and protective corners inside and outside the box. The kit includes an Allen key. The only issue I had assembling the cage was that the paintwork made some of the screw holes smaller than the screws themselves, making it difficult to get the screw in. tighten the screw. The middle divider doesn't have a latch to hold it in place, so it springs out a bit and needs to be secured by tying it down in some way. The biggest fear I have with this cage is the same as other people, the doors! The main doors have no gaps and small bird legs can be cut off if your bird tries to escape while you are closing the doors. Another problem is the side doors, they are spring-loaded and resemble a mousetrap. I ended up crouching that door so my cleaver boys couldn't squeeze through the side doors and get stuck. As you can see from my photos I have a budgie and a cockatiel on one side and a revane on the other. Revain visits her grandparents on weekends (her grandparents have a cage) and she has a MUCH larger single cage at home. Despite this, this cage suits her perfectly. She can play and has a lot of space, most of the time she just sleeps in this cage and walks around all day. For small birds this cage is big and when their sister is not around the partition can be removed or they can enter from the other side through the main doors. This cage is equipped with wheels, making it easy to sweep. Assembly took maybe an hour, and the only reason for the slowdown was an issue with the screws. Overall I'm very happy with the quality and not getting 5 stars because of the issue with the doors that can cut off my toes.
