I have cruelly short arms for my height and have a lot of trouble reaching high things on shelves. This is a grabber tool that can bend and lock at 180 degrees, 45 degrees or 90 degrees. The tong end can also be rotated. Those options are a lot less useful to me.I really just need to be able to grip items on high shelves and put things away.When lifting very light items ( papers, etc) this works fine. I had a lot of trouble putting soup cans on a high shelf. The lining of the tongs stuck to the can surfaces and would not release. I had to bring the candy down, pry it off the tongs and get a ladder.which kind of defeats the purpose.This works perfectly well for papers, bubble wrap, stray balls of yarn.just not so great for kitchen use with heavier objects.
