Review on πŸ”Œ Cable Matters Active Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter with Eyefinity Technology and 4K Resolution Support by Michael Cleveland

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Working but needs to be configured on some Macbooks with SwitchResX

Hardware: I used a mid 2014 15" Macbook Pro Retina (running macOS Sierra) with an NVIDIA 750M graphics card and was able to use it Adapters with this use Revain Basics 6" High Speed HDMI cables to achieve 3840 x 2160 resolution at 50 and 59 Hz on a 40" Samsung 6290 4K TV, but not at the full 60 Hz. Thoughts: I had to use the SwitchResX program to configure this setting directly, so the adapter wasn't fully ready to work with this graphics card, but the adapter was able to support it. I assume this will run at 60hz on other machines with a more powerful graphics card without problems and without using the SwitchResX program. At 59Hz I could tell the graphics card was struggling to keep up with the refresh rate and my laptop was getting very hot, the fan would kick in and I started seeing artifacts and strange patterns on parts of the screen. So I decided to try it at 50Hz and I had no problems. Overall I can say that going from 30Hz to 50Hz is a noticeable difference and well worth it. At 30Hz the cursor is a bit jumpy and difficult to follow, but at 50Hz it's much smoother and easier on the eye. I would buy this again without hesitation.
