Review on πŸ’ͺ Efficiently Remove and Install Pulleys with the Powerbuilt 33 Piece Harmonic Balance Puller and Pulley Installer Kit - 648616, Black by Luke Liu

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Only does half the job on a 1996-2000 Chrysler 3.3L

is used in their 3rd generation Caravan/Voyager minivans to remove the harmonic balancer. However, this is NOT USEFUL for setting up a harmonic balancer. There is no M10 x 1.50 adapter for the designated crankshaft threaded hole and the jackscrew diameter is too large (7/8") to fit through the Harmonic Balancer center hole. Requires a 4" M10 adapter . x 1.50 rod on one end to engage the threads in the crankshaft nose and make room for the uninstalled Harmonic Balancer and 1" of 5/8" UNF 18 TPI on the other end to accommodate the booster bolt to drive to the end. Luckily I caught this BEFORE I removed the Harmonic Balancer as I couldn't have installed a new one with this kit. We are currently awaiting receipt of an M10 x 1.50 threaded rod and 5/8" UNF 18 TPI to weld on the required adapter. For reference, the following adapter sizes are included in the kit to fit onto the ejector pin: Standard: 3/4 "UNF 167 / 16" UNF 201/2" UNF 209/16" UNF 185/8" UNF 18 Metric: M12 x 1.50 M14 x 1.50 M16 x 2.00 All adapters are 2 only "long with 1" on the 5/8" side threaded into the jackscrew and about 1/2" for the crank head. To be honest they really should be longer, say 3-4" where go about 1 inch to the threads in the crank head for a better buy and less likelihood of removal.

Pros
  • Service Pack: many domestic V8 and V6 engines with tapped harmonic balancer
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
