We've been super happy to have this wagon! We use it often with kids' activities, both for pulling them in it occasionally or for hauling gear to and from the car at activities. The fold out tray seemed like it might be nice, but we've found that we use much more often than we'd guessed, so it's a feature I'd recommend to anyone. Turning could be better; the handle is fixed so it pivots up/down but does not turn side to side with the wheels, and the front wheels passively pivot to respond to steering. A Radio Flyer style wagon has the handle mounted directly to the front wheels' pivot point so moving the handle directly turns the front wheels, which is much more responsive, though, it also poses a stability/tip risk when doing fast, sharp turns. So turning with this wagon works fine, it's just not super responsive, but it does offer better stability. Overall, the wagon's design, functionality, and usefulness far outweigh any minor downsides.
