Review on ๐Ÿพ Soft-Sided Mesh Pet Travel Carrier by Amazon Basics by Laura Huddleston

Great value but small

I tried this carrier with my cat as plastic carriers can be heavy. Overall I like it better than my hard plastic carrier, but it's too small to keep him in for long periods of time. What I like about carrying: - Lighter than hard plastic carriers. Detachable soft fleece comes with a carrier that can be attached to the bottom panel with Velcro (also detachable) - you can wash the fleece in the washing machine. Quality construction, will last a long time. What I didn't like: There is a leash/buckle inside the stretcher that hangs down. I'm guessing it's supposed to hold on to the dog's collar so he can't run away quickly. However, this clasp is VERY short and I'm afraid he might choke the poor dog on it. Additionally, when you're not using the clasp, it's impossible to loosen or remove, leaving it hanging around and hitting your poor pet with the metal clasp. Not cool. The carrier says it's for pets up to 22 pounds. However, as you can see in my photo of Peanut, a 12 pound cat, he is quite tense. He cannot stand up in the carrier. I have no idea how he can hold a 22 pound dog without stuffing him with a shoehorn. - The cat is difficult to put in the carrier as the top opening is very narrow and you can bet the cat is NOT in the carrier. Side opening without permission - no way! This is probably normal for dogs that can get through the side opening. Pictured is my 12 pound cat Peanut in a carrier at the vet. (Which explains his grumpy expression.)
