I have a rooster and he loves the hammock. He doesn't dangle from it though, preferring to use it as a lantern shade or something. Between that and his journal, it does the job. I had another hammock and I think this brand was different but judging from the first hammock I'm assuming it will be quite difficult to clean. The place where the blade connects to the suction cup is difficult to remove and that's where the "dirt" usually starts to grow. Pulling out the bastard is a Herculean task, and then bringing it back without destroying it is also a bit of a hassle. But I'll suffer for my little love, so I guess it's okay.
