2011 Tundra SR5: Parts

I am thrilled with my new K&N intake engine. This is a great kit (I've posted a picture in the customer pictures section) that's incredibly easy to install if you're even a little mechanically inclined, and will change your truck's performance, sound and mileage in an instant. . Whether or not you succeed in these departments depends on your expectations I suppose. After all, this is an entry-level set, not a golden goose, so don't expect miracles. However, based on my experience (and my expectations), I am very satisfied. Performance: Nothing special, but my already peppy pickup definitely felt more punchy. I didn't notice an increase under hard acceleration, but throttle response seems more immediate. For what it's worth, K&N included a dyno report that showed a slight increase (3hp if I remember correctly) with their kit installed.2. Sound: New growl under the hood. It's not very loud but you can definitely hear it and what you hear sounds really good. If this bothers you, you probably don't read oral kit reviews at all. Tomorrow I will mount the Flowmaster Dual on my truck to fully enjoy it.3. Mileage: I was surprised here. I wasn't expecting an increase and actually expected a slight decrease (based on my experience installing a large intake kit on a bike). Before installing, I averaged 16.4 mpg. After installing it and driving 80 miles back and forth to and from work, I averaged 18.2mpg on 20/80 city/highway driving. Well! And that was because I hit the gas pedal more than usual just to hear the whistle. Anyway I'm very happy and will update here if my mileage changes over the next month or so. Great kit, easy to install (even with terrible instructions. Just follow the clearance chart and you'll be fine) and it's no snake oil that doesn't work. If you're thinking about buying, stop thinking and do it. You'll thank yourself later.
