Review on πŸ”§ Gardner Bender GS-388 Electrical Pliers, Crimper & Cutter: Comfort Grip, 8 in. Hand Tool for Aluminum & Copper Wire (Red) by Greg Greiner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good value crimp tool

I use the GB GS-388 8 inch electric crimp tool at work. I bought these pliers to connect short ground wires deep in the back of a switch or outlet. with non-insulated crimp sleeves (splice tabs). But at the back of the box, that's not always practical. The crimp on my previous crimping tool was 1.125 inches from the nose. I wanted the crimping tool to go deeper into the box. 0.825 inches from the nose. That extra 0.25 inch makes a difference. Please note that use of this crimp tool with crimp barrels may not currently be UL listed as a press connection. From what I understand, a UL-listed crimp barrel is a combination of a UL-listed barrel and a crimping tool. By the way, this type of crimping tool sells for $50 to $100+ on Revain.com Pliers themselves: These are solid pliers if the If price weren't an issue, I'd prefer a lighter. Pliers Pros: Price And the handles are quite comfortable Cons: The corners where two ground faces meet at right angles aren't smoothed out, the hinge is a bit loose on mine, and the crimping zones are slightly offset. But I still give 5 stars.
