I transfer a lot of vinyl and/or cassette to CD and was looking for a replacement for a less expensive Pyle preamp as I felt the 'buzz' when using it, maybe something more intrusive in the recordings than I would like. I've had this Tec preamp for a few weeks and it hums during recording, but it comes across as a little less intrusive than the previous preamp I've used. This device is very easy to set up and use with one caveat; There is no on/off button or switch, which initially proved inconvenient as I had to rearrange the audio recorder installed in my den to allow direct access to my power strip to plug this device in and unplug it after use. When transferring vinyl or cassettes, the volume control on the device has to be turned up almost to full volume, but otherwise this is a small device that does its job well. The lack of a power button prompted me to give it four stars instead of five.
