I decided to run a POC for a company with 150 employees in case of a ransomware attack to store offline backups. Initially I paired these drives, which by the way have 4800TBW/5 year warranty on the 4TB model, with a cheaper Sabrent EC-UASP case which permanently damaged the SSD. I tried different computers and different cables, but all the drives ended up with corrupted data or had to be formatted like they were new. I finally dared to buy a StarTech case, which also has a solid metal case and has been working flawlessly for 4 months. I do 1.5TB backups daily with no issues and they are much faster than the old case. I've done a few test restores and moved the drives to different computers and had no problems. I thought all cases were more or less the same, but I found out that the cases have their own electronics and chips to allow the SATA interface on the drive to work through a USB or Thunderbolt port on a server or PC can. The lifespan of your data depends on the quality of these chips. This product comes highly recommended for its quality and reliability.
