Review on Eluktronics MAX 17 Processor Graphics by Justin Gomez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It's always scary to walk away from a brand, but Eluktronics gets it right!

I did a lot of research before deciding on the Elukronics MAX-17 and to be honest I never post reviews on Amazon so my post is about this laptop. In fact, I ordered an ASUS ROG Zephyrus g15 and felt buyers' remorse when I saw the specs compared to this laptop. ASUS had a 3070, the same in this laptop. One feature ASUS didn't have was the high GPU performance this one has. Seeing that it was no better than the 2080 Super Max-Q, which ASUS can't match due to its lower GPU performance, was a key factor in choosing this model. But Eluktronics just got it right. The only complaint was that I needed a MAX-17 versus a MAX-15 to get an RTX 3070. But now that I've been using this laptop for a while, I'm really glad I got the 17-inch version with a screen. Just unbelievable. Considering it's 17 inches, I figured the weight would also be an issue, but it's an incredibly comfortable weight for the size of this laptop. It also has a multiplexer switch as that was a deal breaker for me too. The keyboard is good for typing, the RGB on the keyboard is ok, definitely not the best, but it lights up the keyboard and that's all I need. In terms of gaming, this thing is a beast. Don't get me wrong, if you're playing the game you should put on your headphones when the fans get loud. But what can you expect from such a thin gaming laptop, I don't take away from that. The trackpad is glass and honestly it feels like I've never used a good trackpad because its simplicity is amazing. I won't mention battery life too much as this is a gaming laptop. So expect it to be plugged in most of the time, but I can spend about 5-6 hours just browsing YouTube or shopping online. Windows Welcome is a nice touch compared to ASUS which doesn't have a webcam at all and having a camera on the top bezel is a good thing, the quality of the camera is very poor but in a pinch it gets the job done. . Excellent I/O on this laptop. That extra m.2 slot is also really nice as you can add more storage if you need it. Since it's just another Clevo laptop, Eluktronics really made it special. The case is very solid and looks very high quality. The speakers work from below, which I'm not a big fan of, but they do make some noise, definitely not to the level of a Macbook Pro, but since it's a gaming laptop, headphones will suffice. All in all I highly recommend this laptop, even though it costs more than other RTX 3070 laptops, it has the full package and works flawlessly!
