Review on Hayden Automotive 3651 Universal Adjustable Thermostatic Fan Control Kit for Enhanced SEO by Jim Bethea

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Two identical errors Hayden 3651

Two unsuccessful purchases. First purchased for a new 1966 Mustang restoration facility - an electric fan was added to a new larger radiator. The relay worked well for a little over a year, then it began to work unreliably. (Hint, 1 year warranty!) I was able to wiggle the relay in the base and get it to work most of the time. Replaced the relay, hoping that helps. Unfortunately no joy in Mudville - no change in work. (Luckily, the new heatsink handled most of the overheating, although I had a few overheats before figuring out what the problem was.) All the wobbly world didn't help in the end. Bought a new one. Same process. It worked for a little over a year, overheated and overcooked in the heat of that year and then failed too. My guess is that something in the base of the relay is defective, possibly cold soldering, which only works for a limited time. I've fixed issues like this many times over the years, but since the base is glued together (a single piece of molded plastic) there's no way to fix it. At the moment I have connected a fan so that the car can be used. This time I'm going to a different manufacturer. Several others had the same problem. Hayden needs to fix the problem.
