When I first got my hands on a lavalier mic, I plugged it into the mic-in jack on the front of my computer. Unfortunately, I got a lot of noise and hum. At first I thought it was the microphone, but after researching the internet I found that the microphone inputs on the front panel are often poorly shielded and it is better to connect the microphone to the USB port. The mic had a TRRS connector, so I needed an adapter from TRRS (which stands for Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve, there are 4 connectors) to USB. So I got this little beauty, God what's the difference! Now the mic sounds like I'm in a recording studio (but it's just a cheap mic!) and there's no hum or hiss. I'm thrilled and would happily recommend this adapter to anyone having a similar problem!
