Summary: Don't buy the new 'lock' series , It's an imperfect system. Stick with the "Super" series with a ball lock feature. If you want to know why, here's a full review: a locking "ball" that locks the key fob on top holds when not in use) but this new "improved" series called "Lock" complete bullshit. They tried to shrink the case which is a good move but they also have the already perfect " "Ball Lock" system abolished and a new sliding lock implemented on the top of the case. It would be nice if the system could work smoothly and easily with a light swipe of the thumb in the direction of locking or unlocking. It's not like that at all cht. I ordered mine to complement my Super36 (which works great) and right out of the box the locking switch on the block was so hard to move that two hands were in a chokehold and all my strength was moving it and sometimes it wouldn't move. It moved didn't move at all and I could hit and shake it to make it move in any direction again. Even though I bought it from Revain I contacted Key Bak straight away and they weren't surprised it was heavy but said it shouldn't be "THAT" heavy. to lock and unlock. As if constantly struggling with the most used feature of their keychain at every level was normal. I gave the Key Bak the benefit of the doubt and returned it for an exchange instead of a refund (big mistake). Unwrapping the new one, I wasn't surprised to find it just as ridiculously difficult to put on and take off, but it had even more flaws than the first. If I could get the latch to move to the open position, the spool would get stuck half the time and the line would come out with the ratchet with a loud tug. And then, after the 4th or 5th press of the lock button, the trigger inside completely failed, making it completely impossible to roll up. The LOCK48 SERIES (or any other length of cable) is completely and totally obsolete! In this new version, Key Bak has failed in every way. As someone who uses the keychain retract feature every few minutes of my workday at church, the lock feature is not only important, it is the NUMBER ONE most important feature. And Ki-Bak missed as far as it could go. They also switched from the discreet Super Series branding to the ugly, flashy Key Bak logo. Totally unprofessional and disgusting. I do not carry my Key Bak key system as a Key Bak billboard. I like the clean, solid, colorless body of my Super36. If only the LOCK series really worked. I would find a way to remove the gaudy logo they put on the case. take my advice Buy the old version. Super36 or Super48. Be careful. A metal belt clip will make a hole in your belt if you don't use needle nose pliers and fold the sharp edge back into your body. I don't know why it sticks out so much, but it blew holes in my $75 Duluth Firehose pants for months before I knew what was wrong. I also have to add that my first Super36 cable snapped on a ball lock in less than a year, but I'm fucking using this little guy. Key Bak offered to replace it if I send it back but the shipping cost is so high that for the shipping cost I can buy a new one. So.
