Smaller brush pen calligraphy. A great helper for learning kanji, hiragana or katakana spelling.

I used to go to Japanese Sabbath school and write characters to make them look right, it's a pen or pencil problem. I bought a tutorial to adjust stroke order and appearance and used a couple of these brush pens to help. It works really well, the tip is longer and softer than a typical felt tip pen and loosening it allows you to create nice sweeps and jumps. Let me explain if you are new to Japanese or Chinese writing, there are three types of strokes. Sweep is when you taper from thin to thin at the end of a stroke when you lift your pen from the page. The second is the bounce, where you start down and reattach the line at the end. Finally there is only one stop where the stroke width remains constant at the end and you just take it without creating a cone. Usually one uses different brushes for calligraphy, but for smaller characters for notes or notes, a brush pen like this can be used and mimic larger characters in smaller sizes. I think it also helps to get the stroke order right. Not very expensive, I recommend using one of the exercise books, you may need two to complete the exercises in the book.
