5 Star Rating for Bargain Item

This appears to be a popular but controversial item based on reviews. I give this a 5 star rating. Here's why: * It got shipped to my house for $39.99 plus tax. (deal compared to plastic holders) * It was well packaged. All shelf parts were included, as well as fastening material and assembly instructions. * The device fits perfectly. I didn't have to drill or fix anything. The surface was clean and undamaged. No defects. * Once assembled I had a great solid media tower in the corner of my office where space is limited (NOTE: I use this solely for CD storage): assembled. 9 closed shelves; In addition, you have a top for more storage space. I put an extra plastic CD rack (30 more CDs) on top. There's no point in wasting a nice flat surface. The kit includes a set of wall plugs for fixing to the wall if required. The listing claims it will contain 261 CDs. There will be 29 single CDs in standard jewel cases on the shelves. I'm telling you that you don't want this. If you do get the 29th CD stuffed onto the shelf, you'll get annoyed every time you try to pull something out of a tightly packed shelf. Accept that it holds a total of 252 CDs (28 individual CDs per shelf) and you'll be happy. Of course, CD packaging varies: boxes, slim cases, etc., so the numbers vary. Based on the many bad reviews I've read, I'll say this: I believe you have two choices when it comes to building. This kit: 1) Dive in, don't pre-assemble parts, don't read the instructions carefully or at all, and come out with a poorly assembled item and attitude. Or 2) Arrange all the necessary parts in the correct order, read the instructions to become familiar with what you are assembling, and then proceed carefully. DO NOT WANT TO TURN THE SCREWS HOME WITH ALL YOUR FORCE. You will crumble chipboard. Only tighten the screws carefully. Electricity is not required. If you want real wood, then pay for real wood shelves. Do not buy this device. THIS IS DSP. At one time I probably collected 30-40 pieces of furniture/shelves. This one ran as smoothly as any brand I've worked with. If you're really good at stuff like this, you'll be done in under an hour. If not, put on some music, relax, and enjoy the project knowing how organized you'll feel when you're done! Again, I'm very happy with this device - both for the price and the quality I got for that price. Remember that the finished product is up to you. UPDATE: I bought a second device. Everything was perfect here too. This size is ideal for small spaces! UPDATE: It's June 2019 and I have my 4th unit. Everything was perfect here too. Very happy with it.
