I'm shocked that people are buying or appreciating this and I hope our order was an accident for the benefit of others who have it in their home. This ottoman smells strongly of kerosene. The smell is so terrible it fills our whole apartment and we had to take it outside immediately. When I googled the smell of jute and kerosene, several websites came up describing the toxic odor emanating from the petrochemicals used to process jute. I have no doubt that the smell is toxic, if not carcinogenic, and has no place in my home. I am shocked that a furniture company can use such chemically treated materials in their products and sell them to people for use in their homes. I would definitely stay away from it!
