So. This is my first set of chisels. I didn't want to rob the bank as I don't plan on doing well in a bearish future. I used them primarily to remove thick bark from live edges. They worked really well out of the box with a nice edge. then I dropped the largest one on the floor and hit the edge hard. So I pulled out the stone and looked at them all carefully. They sharpen well. One thing I've learned from my recent woodworking experience is that chisels and planes names often need sharpening right out of the box, the cheaper the blade the more work required. I bought a cheap planer from "that cheap tool store" and can't get it to keep a decent head start to save my life. These chisels are great when you just need a decent set for custom woodwork.
