Our old fridge doesn't have cold drinking water, but our well water tastes good (albeit a little hard and the drinking filter is very slow), so we fill a couple of glass jugs with water to make it up keep in the fridge and mix it up. In summer, it's nice to drink ice water when you feel thirsty. But one of our Pyrex jars finally broke after almost ten years of use (the jar was insanely thin - surprised it lasted so long). Rather than swapping out the pyrex jar right away I went with this brand because I love the lid and the handle and I figured why not? I'm very glad I did. The lid fits snugly around the neck of the jug and isolates odd fridge odors. The small handle on the neck is very handy for an easy grab from the fridge door. The handle, which is located in the body of the jug, makes pouring easier. The glass is very thick and durable. And a regular bottle brush easily fits in your mouth and reaches everywhere you need to wash. We don't have a dishwasher other than our own hands, so I can't say how well the plastic parts will hold up, although to be honest I wouldn't try - I think the plastic will melt. But it is easy and quick to wash. My only weak criticism is that the pitcher isn't any bigger. So it only fills about two tall Yeti insulating water glasses before needing to be refilled. So if you are considering a system similar to ours, buy at least 2 of these pitchers. On the other hand, the rectangular body fits well in the fridge, and its compactness means more space in the fridge, so. silver lining, right? When the last Pyrex jug breaks (every day) we will definitely be buying one of these milk jugs again as a replacement. You are fantastic!
