5 stars for freshness and blind taste. I don't really know how to tell if dog food is fresh or tastes good. What I do know is that this was a low-sodium option for my elderly (14-year-old) Australian Shepherd with end-stage congestive heart failure; Using this and the daily fish oil supplement had a major impact on his quality of life. Now he wants out, has become more playful and has returned to his annoying habit of waking up (moaning, crying, barking) when his breakfast is "late" (7am). If you've done your research, you can understand how difficult it is to find dog food that is this low in sodium (this is made especially difficult since most packaged dog food is sodium-free). Better still, it's on the lower end of the cost spectrum in its category, highly regarded by experts for its quality, and cheaper than prescription drugs. It was worth it!
