I've read several reviews that say this device doesn't work on their phones. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8+ that I want to upgrade. I've had a phone for about 4 years and I have about 3000 photos and hundreds of songs on it. I needed a drive to back up everything from my phone so I can easily transfer pictures and music to my laptop or new phone. This USB worked great. My phone immediately recognized it as an external drive. It was very easy to select and transfer a media file on my phone. The transmission speed was relatively high. As an example, I have several videos from the Maroon 5 concert. The largest video was 1 gigabyte. The transfer to a USB stick took about 2 minutes. It also took about 2 minutes to transfer a folder containing 259 photos. This USB drive is for newer phones, so it is TYPE C. If you don't know what Type C stands for, this drive probably isn't for you as it most likely won't work on your phone. The drive worked for me, it's literally plug and play for my phone and laptop. I think I've found this year's stocking material.
