Review on ๐Ÿง€ Rรถsle Stainless Steel Sturdy Cheese Plane: A Reliable 9.5-inch Slicer & Shaver by Rachel Ellis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My search is finally over!

I don't usually write reviews for things. But in this case I feel compelled as this poor slicer doesn't have them. I've been looking and looking for months for a slicer that: 1. is handy and portable / relatively small 2. durable and made from quality materials 3. has a high level of workmanship 4. has spare parts available5. has manual protection that works6. not as expensive as a full size mandolin7. WORKS WELL This food slicer combines all of the above and looks nice and elegant as an added bonus. I didn't realize how difficult it is to meet these criteria for this type of product! I've bought and returned a couple of cheap and not-so-cheap plastic hand v-slicers/mandolins that I didn't like one way or the other. I had a good feeling when I unpacked it. The rubber tip on the end is non-slip, allowing me to work on a variety of surfaces. Adjustment knobs that control the width of the slice you want open and close easily and securely. I don't feel like I'm struggling with this slicer, it just slices - beautifully. I cut fennel, watermelon radish and apple easily, very quickly and in different thicknesses. I have no doubt it will be able to cut any fruit or veg I try. The hand guard is impressive - it covers the entire face (width) of the slicer and allows you to cut the whole piece as the spiked center section (which catches food) can be pushed down during movement. so what you are slicing stays in contact with the surface and the slicing blade. At $65, this isn't the cheapest slicer out there. But I'm tired of buying things that break, tear or don't work properly. , and prefer to save up and invest in some good tools that will hopefully last the rest of my life and beyond. This is my first time buying a Rosle product and I don't think it will be the last. Thank you German design and engineering!
