Review on Go Rhino 8419PS Stake Pocket by Aaron Fowler

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Easy to install, easy to steal.

They serve their purpose. After I bought them and had the right size Allen wrench to install them, my neighbor stopped by to look at a new pickup I had just bought. He grabbed the railing and leaned back. He didn't try to do anything, he just stretched. One end of the splint came out of the peg pocket. While I torqued them to what I thought was reasonable torque, I obviously didn't tighten them enough. One of the screws on the other side was loose. I drove to and from town and attributed the wobble to the movement of the truck (red neck from dangling). I put them back on, but the second time I put even more pressure on them. They have held up so far and have not fallen apart. Now for the bad news. All you need to get them off my truck is a 7/32" hex wrench. Three to four turns on each of the four bolts and they can be removed in under two to three minutes. Any thief could take it off in a hurry. and disappeared before I even knew they were in my driveway. I sold my previous pickup with the rails that came with it. It would be better if I took them off and use them on a truck of the same size. They were screwed under the body paneling. You must remove the body liner to remove it. With the tailgate locked, there is no way on this truck to remove the body panel and access the screws that hold the rails in place. So if you read the ad, it says it's an easy install. Make sure it's not a simple uninstall like this one. I wanted to return them for a refund but the seller had a 50% restocking fee which they booked along with the restocking fee and return shipping I decided not to return. Just have to remember to check in to see if they come by every month or so and see they haven't been hanging around. And I hope the thief who removed the fabric top from my Suzuki Samurai doesn't want those bed rails.

Pros
  • mounting rails
Cons
