Review on KOHLER GENUINE 84999 TOILET ANCHOR by Andrew Gomez

If I could give zero stars, I would! I am a 73 year old, 145 lb female who, after several attempts, was willing to pull her hair out with the help of my 19 year old football playing grandson who is 235 lbs and 6ft 4ft tall I unsuccessfully removed a peeled metal anchor bolt from my Kohler Persuade (plain wall) toilet bowl. I even contacted Kohler customer service and they suggested I buy the #84999 Kohler anchor kit for about $30. Although this kit included the necessary replacement anchor bolt and screw, the "Anchor Stabilizer Tool" was so flimsy and flimsy that it was unusable. Also, the printed instructions were grossly inadequate and misleading. Without YouTube, I would still be at a dead end. When I subsequently called Kohler customer service to complain, they agreed to send me a free black plastic replacement part to snap and secure the toilet seat. In my opinion $30 is too much for a bolt and a toilet anchor. After my grandson flew home, I went to YouTube and found a different approach. I can't tell you how grateful I am because it worked! After chewing to remove the black toilet seat anchor, I used a heavy duty 24 inch pry bar to remove the stripped bolt and metal anchor. I can't adequately express the joy I felt when both popped out after about 20 minutes of repeated effort. Remember I used a thin piece of laminate to avoid scratching the porcelain with the pry bar. I also sat on the toilet to reduce the significant amount of toilet wobble that made me think I was loosening the plumbing or all the guts of the toilet. Incidentally, I went through all of this to install a "superfine" bidet sprayer with two Veken nozzles (about $35 at Revain). I've tried installing a Brondell bidet before, but it didn't fit this style of Kohler toilet. I will never buy a Kohler toilet again because of this crappy design. The American standard is much better. In closing, I have to say I feel so smug!
