You can get these pans for less than $300 as they are some of the best stainless steel cookware out there. Consumer Reports gives this set a very good rating. It costs $399.99, which is way overpriced, but they sell for a good $300 on Amazon. This set is 3 ply which means it has 3 layers of metal. The central metal is aluminum, which conducts heat better than other metals. They heat up quickly and evenly, so you can cook anything on them. My set arrived with minor cosmetic damage from shipping or manufacturing, but this does not affect the cookware's performance. They are also usually fingerprint magnets. Overall, they represent great value for what you get. I would also recommend a good nonstick pan for more delicate foods and if you don't want to cook in oil. They peel well and unlike one reviewer who said it was easy to color, they had no problem keeping the color of anything cooked. in them or discolor. The handles are very durable and I can see that they will last a very long time with normal use. The handles are covered with silicone rubber that is cool/warm to the touch. They should be a little safer to use on cookware than their non-stick counterparts, but I've already scratched one of the pans.
