Review on πŸ”³ KREG KMA3220 Shelf Pin Jig with 5mm Pin Size by Jared Bradford

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The problem is drilling and tearing

Bought 2 and joined together into a longer block, easy to use, precise on both ends so no problem moving to the opposite side, had to use 2 stoppers as the first pin insert and Kreg adjustment clip (sold separately) to hold the mount. The problem is that the 5mm jig has a step drill and the edge of the jig isn't flush with the veneer to prevent tearing. Duct tape, neither slow nor fast drilling will solve the problem, I had two bits and this was done with both bits (one was a bit wobbly in the drill so not flat). The fact that the mount fits 1/4 (if you buy this router bit) means there is nothing supporting the edge of the wood next to the 5mm router bit. I thought of sanding the bottom of the jig flush and trying a 1/4 bit so the metal sleeve was against the veneer. Maybe I'll do that, if it works I'll post it. It would be useful to have a flat bottomed jig that could stay at 5mm with a longer tip on a 5mm bit and be drilled out if a 1/4 bit was used, or have two different jigs.
