Review on ☕️ De'Longhi Eletta Super Automatic Espresso Machine with Latte Crema System, Black - Digital Enhanced by Ryan Calabro

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great car with one caveat

This is a great car. I bought it about eight months ago and am very happy with it with one exception. It's very versatile. With one or two presses of a button, you can prepare a variety of drinks. You can also program the temperature and the milk/coffee ratio according to your preferences. It is also very practical and easy to maintain for everyday use. The milk carafe is self-cleaning (although it's recommended that you wash it thoroughly about once a week) and will let you know when it needs to be descaled or the water filter changed. The descale and filter change screens don't really help you with this process, so I still refer to the manual for instructions on these operations. On the contrary, screenshots during the preparation of the drink are useful and informative; Let them know what's going on if you have to wait or something isn't right (e.g. inserting a spout). There is one area where I found this machine disappointing. It doesn't work well with oily dark roast beans. For years I've been using Starbucks Italian Roasted Beans in my old DeLonghi coffee maker (ESAM3500N) and the one we got our son a few years ago (ESAM5600SL). These beans worked well in both of these models and made delicious coffee. However, those beans in this coffee maker were a big problem. I had to stand by the machine and push the beans through the grinder to get a full-strength cup of coffee. I found this incredibly disappointing, especially considering my positive experience with the previous two machines. Several calls to customer service gave me the same recommendation: switch to drier beans. In desperation, I even asked if I could trade this car for a more expensive model if that would solve the problem. I've been told that all current models are designed for use with lean grains. Limiting customers' choice of coffee beans on machines in this price range seemed like an odd decision by the product designers, but I'll stick with it for now, unless I want to give up that machine and invest heavily in another machine. I really didn't want to do this. Aside from the cost, I really liked the features, functionality and flexibility of this machine. I really wanted it to work without having to keep track of every cup. So I started looking for other beans. I tried a few Starbucks and even a Tanzanian peaberry from a local roaster (thought the smaller beans would get into the grinder more easily). None of them solved the problem. After a few weeks of experimenting, I found that the old favorite works very well. I switched to Lavazza Super Crema beans a few months ago and haven't had a single problem since. They are easy to put in the coffee grinder and prepare coffee with excellent taste. If it wasn't for the oily grain issue I would give this machine five stars. His flexibility and skills are truly amazing. Given that you have to live with DeLonghi's limitations on bean selection, I can only give four stars.
