Wow this was quite the assembly, I think this would be hard for a kid. I did most of the assembly and my son helped gather pieces. Several pieces were difficult to push together, not at all as easy as their video, which must have had perfect smooth pieces There were several burrs and splinters on pieces popped out of the board. They provide a scant 1" square of sand paper. Three pieces broke during assembly, but only 1 had a spare piece included, so had to superglue. Luckily those pieces were aesthetic not motion related. After we were done the gears appeared to move smoothly but the spring turning did not result in motion. I tried to figure out why and troubleshoot, but nothing worked and I can hand move the gears. I even watched the 30 min assembly video and all appears in order, it simply will not move as advertised. Pretty disappointing after a 3 hour build.
