Review on Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM: Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras (Discontinued Model) by Draven Louton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Everything I expected.

I've been trying to buy this lens for a long time. I had a Tamron 16-34, my main "walking" lens, that broke on a recent trip. This lens performed "well" and was much cheaper than any Canon lens. Unfortunately, this lens wasn't possible to repair, so it was time to shop. The UWA lens has several options that are difficult to distinguish. Ultimately, I chose this lens because of the extra aperture (f/2.8 versus f/4.0 on some other lenses) and reputation for quality. I bought mine used here at Revain and it was still a lot of money. But I'm completely satisfied. Unlike my old lens, this one shoots indoors without a flash and with fairly good exposure - so the lack of IS on this lens is less of a concern. The autofocus is fast, accurate and easy to use, and the pictures turn out great. The lens feels premium and doesn't feel like a compromise in any way. Your own research will likely lead you to the same choice, and you might find the odd little feature that better suits your own needs, but once you start agonizing and clicking buy, I can tell you that this lens meets all the requirements they exceed. my expectations.
