The only reason you would want this is to ensure constant, even pressure around the hose. They aren't round (bad enough that you can see it in the picture) so they can't apply even pressure. They're also made from inferior spring steel, so they don't fully spring back. I measured them with calipers out of the box and then again after opening them and they got 1mm bigger after putting them back in. Who knows how long her little spring will last.
