We have a 2 year old vacuum cleaner with a broken switch. Instead of buying another $12-20 OEM switch that could last another two years, I looked for a secondary switch. The original failed switch is still present on the cleaner, but this secondary switch is mounted next to the handle. I just ran the wiring to the new switch. Installation was a little tricky but I can get creative if needed. I was hoping it would be as simple as drilling a 3/4" hole for the switch and rerouting the wiring. I had to match both the switch and my mounting hole to the switch, but it looks and fits well. I also have a shop vacuum that is hardwired to a faulty switch, at some point I will be using one of those switches on this unit as well.
