Review on Casio GW-M5610-1BJF G-Shock Solar Digital Multi Band 6 Men's Watch in Black by Mike Dart

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great EDC/apocalyptic watch...if you have good eyesight.

If your only concern is the negative legibility, skip to the bottom half. Otherwise read on. For me, besides appearance (subjective) and durability (given on G-Shocks), three factors are most important for a watch. ACCURACY What good is a watch if it doesn't tell the exact time? Digital clocks already have a significant advantage over analog clocks, but these clocks take it even further by merging with atomic time (which is synchronized with one of six signal towers around the world). For the first time, I didn't have to fiddle with manually setting the minutes, hours, or even the date out of the box. Just select your time zone, turn on Daylight Savings Time if applicable, and know your time really couldn't be more accurate. Back? "Sorry, I didn't know my watch time was up" is no longer a valid excuse for being late. Yes. Have used this before. COMFORT. And what good is a watch if you want to take it off all the time? At the same time, the durable polyurethane strap is surprisingly soft, comfortable, and comfortable to wear. The watch itself is also light and small enough that I sometimes forget I'm wearing it. It's good for sports/training and I won't take it off before a fistfight. Bring it up bruv.EASE OF USE Now for that negative display: probably the biggest compromise when choosing this particular model, but also the most visually appealing element if you really want an all-black look. Otherwise you would immediately go for a model that works the same but costs almost half, right? So the $150 question is: is it worth the readability trade-off? With a decent view, yes. In the sun or in a well-lit room there is absolutely no problem other than a slight glare at certain angles. However, in limited light, it's harder to see the watch's contents at a glance without straining your eyes, and the aforementioned glare becomes a bigger problem. Thankfully, it has an auto backlight that lights up when you tilt the watch at a 40-45 degree angle towards yourself from the plane, and it's amazingly stable (over 9/10 times). The only problem is the duration of the backlight, which only lasts a second. This also applies when you press and hold the backlight button. A full 2 seconds would be nice. It is worth noting that the backlight also stops the moment another key is pressed. The only possible problem that might arise is if you need to use the stopwatch function in near or total darkness (not impossible, just a big problem) but I can't imagine you ever needing to do that other than to try, Calculating the duration of The lighting function for the purposes of this review, which was a royal pain. Aside from the negative display, the only other usability issue is the tiny buttons, which can be problematic if you're using them with gloves on. In summary, who is this watch not for? Anyone with poor eyesight, such as B. some older users. , anyone who needs full visibility and access to features despite limited lighting, and anyone intending to tinker with the various features while wearing gloves (winter sports?). an all black tactical look, and don't mind paying an extra $70 for it, this watch should weather the apocalypse in style. It's reliable, comfortable, accurate, looks damn good, and doesn't run out of juice as long as you give it sunlight once or twice a week. Just pray we never see a nuclear winter, inshallah.
