Okay, I'm a fairly new pet owner. I had dogs as a child, but they were anything but the hounds that belonged to my hunting father. As such, there is no real experience of potty training a dog. I had my doubts about this, but you should just go ahead and ring the bell/praise your dog. He or she will make himself comfortable. It's all about repetition and positive interaction. It's been a little over a week for us. My daughter told me I was crazy and that it was useless. I kept trying. One day I got a message from her at work. Our dog rang the bell himself to go outside! He continues to do this and two months have passed. Calls could be louder but it works! Just try to push the frustration away and be relentless.
