Great value but great little zoom lens

Although Canon make many fantastic lenses they have a lower quality range at a much lower price. Keep in mind that Canon is doing this to increase its market share and potentially attract loyal customers from this group. I was looking for a simple little lens to attach to my camera when I'm not working for money. I read about the size and weight of this lens and was pleased by the many good reviews so I decided to buy it. I was not disappointed. A month later the lens works as advertised, the zoom is smooth, the shutter release is audible but nothing wrong with that and the stabilization works fine. I had no trouble attaching or detaching the lens to my EOS 30D body, which due to its small size fits nicely between my other gear. My pro lenses are double the size and I don't have to carry any extra weight - it's just a godsend. I wish the lenses were made of a more durable plastic, but if that were the case the price of the lens would be higher. I'll just try to take care of the lens at every stage to make it last as long as possible. Overall, this lens is worth the money, which is why I'm giving it 5 stars.

Pros
  • Focus adjustment - gear driven
Cons
