Review on ☕ Bodum Eileen French Press: Stunning 34 oz Chrome Brewer for Rich Coffee by Jason Unruh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Preserves the reputation of the French Bodum press - stronger, more beautiful, design

Shows signs of damage and ensures a tight seal inside the glass jar. The screen is fine enough to pick up almost all of the grind in the last cup, and last cup settling was minimal when using the correct coarse grind. This press is absolutely gorgeous in person. I didn't notice any sharp edges and the chrome finish is smooth and hassle free. And water stains, if they occur after air drying, can be easily wiped off. I find this press more durable than the Chambord line. The additional material serves to hold the glass more firmly, which better prevents the glass from slipping out of the holder when pouring, and also helps to prevent damage to the glass inside from blows, even light ones. As for the plastic, the spout is part of the glass, so there's no plastic, but the base of the lid is plastic. I'm not sure what plastic was used in its construction, but although water flows through the holes in the lid when pouring, contact is minimal and I didn't notice any effect on the taste. However, for those with particular difficulty, the glass tumbler allows for pouring without completely covering the top if care is taken. Cleaning is similar to other presses and full disassembly of all major parts including the filter is possible and recommended for cleaning. I have not put this press in the dishwasher and I would never recommend it as it can damage the glass and will almost certainly damage the chrome finish after multiple washes. Another note: When washing for the first time, be careful not to scratch the glass. multiple cleanings as the glass is initially very tight to the mount. I would recommend using a slight twisting motion for the first few cup extractions and insertions. After the first few cleanings, the glass is snug but not too tight, conforming to the glass and cleaning becomes easier. I recommend.
