I have a chronic ear condition and I can't swallow a drop of water without pain. I've tried everything on the market and even the highly rated silicone was a joke. At least for those who can't get water in their ears. I wanted to go to a specialist and just buy a pair of earplugs that were custom made for my ears, although I have friends who didn't fit them either. I decided to try them and was pleasantly surprised that they work. You have to tighten them tight, and I mean tight. Someone recommended dabbing alcohol to the edges of the ear and I would suggest doing this to get a snug fit. I need some time to sort them out. And I swim around to test them and sometimes correct them by pushing them a little deeper. But usually they are fine afterwards and I can continue my training without any problems. I will also point out that as an extra safety measure I wear a large swimming cap to ensure my ears are covered. just enough to get that tight fit. I find that it can be difficult for a child to put them on tight enough without the help of an adult.
