Review on ๐Ÿ”ช Dremel SM500 3-Inch Wood & Plastic Carbide Wheel: A Versatile Gray Tool for Precision Cutting by Chip Palmer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good product but it has limitations

I have bought a few of these blades as well as "multipurpose" blades. Although they look the same and both say they can cut wood and/or plastic, be aware that general-purpose blades are only high-speed steel and wear out fairly quickly. Blades marked "wood or plastic" are carbide blades and will last much longer. It's important to let the blade cut and not "push" the saw through the material too quickly or you will shorten the life of each blade. I should note that I used carbide, wood, and plastic blades to cut 3/4" thick maple plywood when I made a 48" x 20" bench with shelves/compartments. It did a great job . "However. Although the literature says it will cut through 3/4" thick material, I think the saw/blades will have a much easier time if you stick with 1/2" thickness.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
